Santa fe to Alburquerque
July 28, 2016
Another great day, started out in Santa Fe, did a touristy tour around the historic plaza and have to say it is a wonderful place to visit, so many cool buildings the architecture was amazing.

From Santa Fe we travelled up to Los Alamos where the atomic bomb was built by a whole group of scientists brought to this location in 1942 as part of the Manhatten project.

From Los alamos it was a drive back down past santa fe and onto Albuquerque. Stopped off at an old turquoise mine, so sad these small places are dying.

After a couple more minor stops we headed to Aburquerque the GPS took us through some pretty sketchy areas so much so that I feel there is no need to do the breaking bad tour. At one point though the GPS took us the wrong way and we ended up approaching Kurt air force base. Security was massive and we were stopped and asked to produce ID, Greg gave him his NZ drivers license the guard looked at him and said “do you have military ID this is a secure military establishment”. Once we explained the GPS had led us astray they saw the funny side and were fine, they turned us around and sent us on our way.
So far were not too impressed with Alburquerque.
Tomorrow on our way to Holbrook AZ.

Yep I like Santa Fe. That's why I brought one. 🙂
Loved it there I think we could possibly be coming back just to spend more time around there.
There are a number of places like that. You go there and are surprised at how nice it is and think that you would love more time there. Santa Fe was one for me too as well as Monument Valley, Durango and Grand Canyon. I am off to Aussie today. Not as exciting as what you are doing just taking my dad to visit relatives.
