..entries from our travels

Day 1 – Tokyo

We’re nackered, been on the go since 3:30am this morning, for an 8:00am flight out of Manila. The flight, a “Philippines Airline” flight, was basic but functional. for some reason they separated us so Mandy was in the seat in front.

There was no inflight entertainment, wasn’t even a screen anywhere to be had! but it was only 4 hours and in went pretty quickly.

Arrived at Henada Airport in Tokyo and the first thing was did was pick up some Japanese Yen. then off to a vending machine to buy a couple of IC cards we chose the ‘Welcome Suica’ card as it was the first we came across

These cards act as a debit card and a tap and go for rail travel.

A half hour train ride from the airport found us at Tokyo Station. one of the busiest stations in Japan with an average of 500k passengers through it daily.

Once we’d found our way out we made it to our hotel room, quite easily the smallest room we’ve ever had.

A brief rest and and a freshen up and we were off across the city to Shibuya and the crossing. This crossing is mental up to 3000 people crossing every 2 minutes. So of course we had to do it.

Then we kind’ve hit a wall and retreated back to the hotel for a beer snacks and sleep!!. Tomorrow we visit Akehabra the electronics area and a visit to the Senso-Ji Temple.
