Day 3 – Kyoto

Early start today as we head off to Kyoto. We had tickets for the 10:00 am Bullet Train (Shinkansen) and we got to the station way too early.

Once on board it was a relaxing 2 hours to Kyoto the seats were very comfy and had lots of leg room.

The rail system here is amazing, so efficient. When our train arrived in Tokyo there was a team of cleaners waiting to board to turn the train over 3 per car! Also we were due to arrive in Kyoto at 12:15 and that was the time we stepped out onto the platform.. British Rail and NZ Rail Take Note.

Arriving in Kyoto we were too early to check in, so we left our bags at reception and took a taxi to Kiyomizu-dera a well known Buddhist Temple not too far away it affords great views of the city.

Spent a couple of hours here, some amazing construction/architecture. Feet were starting to hurt so a Taxi back to the hotel to relax.
