Day 5 – Hiroshima

A bright start to the day in Kyoto and off to board another Shinkansen to Hiroshima. The train ride itself was uneventful and took 1:36 minutes arriving on time (as always) at 11:38am. We were approached at the station by a volunteer helper who suggested we use the sightseeing bus to get to our hotel. Which we did.

As soon as we got to the hotel (great room btw) it was a quick turn around before taking a taxi to the ferry terminal and catching a ferry over to Miyojima island.

This island is stunning, picture postcard stunning. Its home to about 2000 people and about 500 deer. the deer are accustomed to people and are very friendly. Most of them just walk up to you to check if you food, then saunter off..

We have come to Japan at the start of cherry blossom season and this island also has its fair share.

A simply beautiful place, its almost like a movie set and we’d love to come back.

Tomorrow a far more sombre day.
