Josselin

Moved on further yesterday into Brittany, we have reached this gorgeous town called Josselin. Staying in a camping car park right next to the river Oust and a short walk to the old town. It is dominated by this amazing Chateau.

Really lovely town to walk around, so much history here, very medieval in design.

Here in July and August 1944. Brave members of the French resistance were tortured by the Gestapo.

Saw this sign outside a very ordinary house opposite a small church, gives you chills to think about.

This morning we walked back into town to have a look around the Chateau, we wanted to get this done before lunch as it was forecast to be a hot day! (at the time of typing this up its 30 degrees)

We stopped at a local cafe for a cheeky cold drink and people watching before heading back to the van for a lunch of baguette (picked up from the boulangerie, which Mandy carried all around the chateau) cheese and ham sat outside.

View from the Chateau grounds down the river – our campsite is roughly where those tall trees are on the left
who doesn’t love an English garden styled around a French Chateau.

I’m currently sat outside the van under the awning with a beer in hand typing this up. When we first envisioned doing this vanlife, this town in France is exactly the kind of thing we imagined seeing and to be relaxing after a morning of exploring is perfect.
