Day 6 – Durango Mesa Verde
July 9, 2018
Today was Independence day! we picked up our car in other words. I’m not sure we’d do this again waiting so long to pick up a vehicle, but hey we got one now and we can be on our travels.
we went back to the airport and picked up the car, a huge Chevy Tahoe.

After a brief acclimatisation most importantly how to connect my phone and therefore spotify to the car we were off!
Mesa Verde
The main trip today was Mesa Verde.
Mesa Verde is a National Park in South West Colorado that is known for its well-preserved Ancestral Puebloan cliff dwellings, notably the huge Cliff Palace. We didn’t get to see the Cliff Palace as by the time we’d gotten there the tours had practically sold out 4 to 5 hour wait times!. So we booked the smaller and more physically challenging Balcony House. This includes descending into the canyon and then climbing a 32 ft ladder and through small tunnels to gain entrance.

Balcony house was not so widespread but involved fear of heights and confined spaces!

We’re off into town tonight for dinner then packing up ready for the drive to Santa Fe tomorrow.
So during a great dinner we heard a gunfight (staged) going on in the bar next door, Samantha went out to see what was going on and came back with this.
