Au-Revoir France

France, its not us its you! Seriously you’ve been good to us and we’ve enjoyed our two months with you but for now its just too hot to stay, so we are packing up about 3 weeks earlier than planned and heading back to Blighty. Yes we realise that the UK is also having a heatwave but there is no comparison. The heat has made it so that we just can’t do anything other than try to find shade and sit with buckets of cold water for the feet 🙂

So this post is just about the journey back up France to exit via Dunkirk. We are currently in the Champagne region, a little south east of Reims and tomorrow we have a 3.5 hour drive to Dunkirk. We will catch a ferry to Dover, this is our first ferry so it’ll be interesting to see how it goes.

What we’ve liked:

The roads, the campsites, the Camping-Car Parks, the bread, the wine, beautiful villages, the countryside.

Normandy and the Dordogne region were particular highlights.

What we didn’t like as much

French drivers, rude waiters, the heat

Campsite at Beaune, lovely but 39 degrees celsius in the shade.
About to leave Dunkirk

Managed to get an earlier ferry so on our way back.

Coming into Dover

Epic day of driving and the ferry crossing has got us back to the UK, we will now need to look at what we want to do next and where we want to go. Getting to Ireland to see Sam is the next priority.
