Shrewsbury – Melton Mowbray

After what turned out to be an exhausting visit to Alton Towers we drove to Shrewsbury to visit Sharon (Mandy’s ex sister-in-law). We had a pleasant catch up, dinner outside as the weather is still so good, then watched the England/Norway game before spending the night on their driveway.

On the way to Sharon and Mikes we stopped in at the RAF museum near Cosford to have a look around was a nice Museum with some great exhibits and free to get in just had to pay for the carpark.

After our night in Shrewsbury we moved onto a small CL was a lovely little site the facilities were a bit tired though and could do with some TLC.

The following day we’d arranged to meet up with Sharon and Mike to have a quick look around Shrewsbury itself. Shrewsbury is the birthplace of Charles Darwin and has roots dating back to the Anglo-Saxons

Melton Mowbray

We finally organised a date to get back to Consort in Leeds to have some upgrades done to the van. It’s in two weeks time so the decision was made to head back across England and slowly head up north via Lincoln and York. Our first stopover was Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire famous for its Pork Pies.

  • I used to work onsite at RAF Cosford many years ago in the bank. Haven’t been to the museum for years but looks like it has expanded.
